We completed the upgrade of a Hauser Jig Grinder using a Heidenhain CNC Control for the main axis and a Trio MC403 for the Hydraulic Servo Quill. As the quill required separate programming and adjustment during the cnc cycle we required a solution to control the single axis servo quill. We selected an MC403 and fitted it alongside the cnc controller and programmed M-Codes on the cnc and digital I/O on the Trio to give the ability to interact with the cnc cycle but also be independently controlled and programmed.
A 5" Colour HMI was used to interface to the Trio allowing the user to program and also give access to the parameters.
